Why I Created a Different Kind of Property Networking Room
Over the last few weeks, a few people have commented that they enjoy seeing a woman running a mixed property networking group.
Not because other networking groups aren’t welcoming — there are some fantastic property rooms and communities out there — but because different leadership styles naturally create different room dynamics.
And sometimes, that difference matters more than people realise.
For many people, walking into a networking room for the first time can feel intimidating. It doesn’t matter whether you’re male or female, new to property or highly experienced — there can still be that little voice wondering:
-
“Will I fit in?”
-
“Will I know anyone?”
-
“Will everyone else be ahead of me?”
-
“Am I even supposed to be here?”

I understand that feeling more than people realise.
When I created Property Powwow, I didn’t want it to feel like a stage show or a room where people had to prove themselves. I wanted it to feel like a conversation.
A room where:
-
newcomers feel comfortable
-
experienced investors still feel grounded
-
people can ask honest questions
-
relationships matter more than status
-
conversations happen naturally
-
everyone feels included in the room
Because property isn’t just about deals.
It’s about people.
Over time, I’ve realised that many people — men and women alike — are quietly tired of environments that feel overly performative, competitive or ego-driven. They want genuine conversations. Real experiences. Honest lessons. Human connection.
That’s why the structure of Property Powwow is intentional.
- The room layout.
- The conversation-led format.
- The encouragement for everyone to contribute.
- The lack of hard selling.
- The mix of personalities, backgrounds and experience levels.
It’s designed to lower barriers, not raise them.
And interestingly, some of the best feedback I’ve received hasn’t been about property knowledge at all. It’s been comments like:
-
“I felt comfortable walking in alone.”
-
“People actually spoke to me.”
-
“It felt relaxed.”
-
“I normally hate networking but enjoyed this.”
-
“It didn’t feel cliquey.”
To me, that matters.
Because the right room really can change everything.
One conversation can lead to:
-
confidence
-
opportunity
-
partnerships
-
support
-
friendships
-
completely new directions in business and life
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room to belong in property.
You don’t need the biggest portfolio.
You don’t need all the answers.
You don’t need to “look successful.”
You simply need the willingness to start conversations and learn from others.
And perhaps that’s the real power of networking done properly.
Not who talks the most.
Not who looks the most impressive.
But who helps create a room people genuinely want to come back to.
